Lagos, April 6, 2018 (NAN) Samuel Ikpea, National President, Nigerian Football Supporters Club (NFSC), has commended Fatai Aliu, the Chairman, Fatai Dragon FC for initiating the club’s players’ house project in Ekpoma, Edo.
Ikpea told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday that he was impressed with the development which, he noted, would ease accommodation difficulties for the state’s footballers.
He said he was in Ekpoma with members of the club to lay the foundation of the one-story building sited in Esan Land, with the traditional ruler of the community, Chief Anthony Ehizojie Abumere 11.
“This is the caliber of fan we need in our football sector, Aliu has done significantly well with this initiative having gone the extra mile to encourage our footballers.
“I am happy with him and out of excitement, I mobilised our members and we stormed Ekpoma on Wednesday for the event, drumming and dancing to express our joy.
“It’s indeed a commendable effort and a mark of commitment, we are glad to identity with the project which has the presence and blessings of town’s ruler,’’ he said.
The NFSC chairman urged the players to remain focused in their career and work hard to gain impressive recognition in various match stages and in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
Ikpea added that the NFSC would endeavour to contribute its quota to the growth of the club, adding that Aliu would not be left alone in the project because he had good plans.
“Aliu has a good agenda for the players and he has started rolling it out, so the footballers must live up to expectations to ginger him to even do more.
“We as the supporters club must support administrators and such projects because it is aimed at enhancing football development and is part of players welfare,’’ he added.
NAN reports that the event had in attendance academics, traditional ruler, sports administrators and the NFSC members, including the Vice-Chancellor, Ambrose Ali University, Ekpoma and Ahmed Aigbonz, the Chairman, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Edo chapter. (NAN)
