Malete (Ilorin), April 6, 2017 (NAN) The Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, has directed its College of Agriculture to facilitate clearing and allocation of land to all students interested in farming.

The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. AbdulRasheed Na’Allah, gave the directive during his visit to the College on Thursday, as part of his campus-wide tour of the institution’s colleges.

Na’Allah asked the college to collaborate with the university’s  Department of Works and Physical Planning to commence the project.

He said the initiative was aimed at encouraging students, regardless of their academic disciplines, to tap into opportunities that abound in the agricultural sector.

“Announce to the whole campus, any student that wants to farm, let us give them a little plot of land.

“If it is the cooperative society that is interested in agriculture, let us see where they can put their money.

“Let us also see who outside the university system, wants to collaborate with us in making some of these things possible,” Na’Allah said.

The Kwara State Government on Tuesday inaugurated the construction of Ilesha-Baruba Campus road of the University in Baruten Local Government Area.

The campus, once completed, would accommodate the College of Agriculture to actualise the original vision of the university. (NAN)
