FOMWAN
Jos, Dec. 12, 2016 (NAN) The Federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN), on Monday, advised Muslim faithful to emulate the life of Prophet Mohammed, as Muslims marked his birthday, Eid-el-Maulud.
Mrs Mairo Sani, the leader of FOMWAN in Plateau, gave this advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Jos.
She said the Prophet, in addition to his religious leadership role, had a source of livelihood, as he was a shepherd and a merchant.
In a related development, a politician, Mr Henry Akande, has called on Muslims to embrace a peaceful co-existence with their neighbours to build a strong relationship with others.
Akande, who is a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Yagba West, Kogi, made this call in an interview with NAN in Lokoja on the occasion of the Eid-El-Maulud.
He noted that a peaceful co-existence was the bedrock of any society that desired development and urged Nigerians to strengthen cordial relations and avoid acrimony.
Akande urged them to reflect on the virtues of peace, love and unity, as entrenched in the preachings of Prophet Muhammed and called for more prayers for national development.
He said it was only prayer that could save the country from recession, even as he expressed optimism that the 2017 development plan would turn around the nation’s fortune. (NAN)
