Abuja, Feb. 8, 2018 (NAN) Mrs Winifred Oyo-Ita, Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HOS), has assured the Institute of Directors (IoD), of Government’s determination to partner with the institute on capacity building.

The HOS said the initiative would go a long way to ensure continuous capacity building for the public service.

Oyo-Ita gave the assurance while receiving the President of the Council of Institute of Directors, Alhaji Ahmed Rufai, who paid her a courtesy visit in Abuja on Thursday.

A statement by Mr Ojedokun Olufemi, the Director of Communications in the Office of the HOS, quoted the HOS as saying that the partnership would boost effective service delivery by public servants.

According to her, there is need for working partnership between and among various services, government and private institutions to leverage development, innovation and capacity building of the entire public service for effective service delivery.

“The country must look inward to provide service and actualise the programme of the present administration.

“Hence the 2017-2020 Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (FCSSIP), which is line with the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP) of the administration”, Oyo-Iya said.

Speaking earlier, Alhaji Ahmed Rufai, said the vision of IoD is to be a catalyst for public sector transformation across the country.

According to Rufai, the Council connects private sector innovation with active public sector partnership that seeks to attract, inspire and support leaders in the public sector.

He, therefore, called for collaboration between the Office of the Head of Service and Institute of Directors, to boost and enhance competence and performances of the civil servants.

He added that enhanced performances would be achieved through access to world-class training both at home and abroad.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the IoD, Nigeria is a prime leadership development organisation in Nigeria.

It focuses on the professional and development needs of Directors, Business leaders and policy makers in the economy. (NAN)
