FG to empower 200 women with N20m in Jigawa

Dutse, June 22, 2017 (NAN) The Federal Government has concluded arrangements to empower 200 women with N20 million under its National Women Empowerment Fund programme.

Dr Buba Shani, the Coordinator of the programme, announced this at a one-day capacity building workshop organised for the beneficiaries in Dutse on Thursday.

Shani said that the exercise would be executed through Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.

He said the programme was designed to empower women from eight pilot states, including Jigawa.

The coordinator explained that each of the women would be given soft loan of N100,000 to start a business.

Shani added that N20 million was earmarked for the programme in the state.

According to him, the beneficiaries are expected to pay back the loan within six months.

He assured the women that the money would be paid into their individual bank accounts in the next one week.

In her remarks, the state’s Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajiya Ladi Ibrahim, urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the money.

Ibrahim also urged them to pray for the speedy recovery of President Muhammad Buhari. (NAN)
