Ado-Ekiti, Aug.17,2017(NAN) Ekiti United Head Coach, Olusegun Adelakun said on Thursday the 3-2 victory over Dolphin FC of Kaduna in the ongoing Aiteo Cup (Federation Cup) was unique and well deserved one.
Adelakun , who disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) in Ado-Ekiti, said that he was delighted with the performance of his team.
He said he expected more goals in the first half but pointed out that the players did not utilise their chances.
Adelakun said in spite of the pressure of the visiting team towards the end of the match, his team was able to win.
” Am happy that we won yesterday`s match, it was a difficult game towards the end of the competition but my boys were able to maintain their lead.
” They actually played according to the formation I gave them but they failed to control the game in the extra time which the visitors capitalized upon to score a goal,” he said.
The head coach, however, charged his team to improve on their scoring mentality to enable them to qualify for the group stage of the competition.
NAN reports that the match between Ekiti United FC and Dolphin FC, was held at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium on Wednesday in Ado-Ekiti.
Timothy Akinyemi scored United`s first goal in the 15th minute while Sunday Akinrotoye made it two in the 20th minute.
Efionge Itoro scored United`s third goal in the 44th minute.
Coach Dalhatu Muhammed of Dolphin FC, said he was impressed with the performance of his team despite the defeat.
He said though they lost the match, he was encouraged with the officiating and goals scored by his boys.
” Though we lost the match my boys played well and am proud of them.
” They missed so many chances but I see it as inexperience on their part because some of the chances they had ought to have been converted in both the first and second half of the match.
” For me, am happy with the officiating of the game,” he said.(NAN)
