Abuja, June 14, 2017 (NAN)  Suleiman Gora has emerged as the new President of the Nigeria Scrabble Federation, after winning unopposed at the National Sports Federations Elections in Abuja on Tuesday.

Umoh Bassey also won unopposed as vice-president.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Bassey had stepped down from contesting for the presidency, a move which helped Gora to emerge unopposed.

Gora, while speaking after the elections, thanked the stakeholders for voting for him, pledging that better days were ahead for the sport in the country.

“You all have made history today and I want to assure you that there are better days ahead.

“We will pay more attention to the schools scrabble programme, because that is the only way scrabble will be encouraged in Nigeria,” he said.

Others elected into the board include Ndibe Chukwudi from the South East, Akanbi Oladipupo from South West, Usman Ibrahim from North West, and Sule Jamai from North East.(NAN)
