Abuja, March 27, 2017 (NAN) The Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) says its target at the International Cricket Council (ICC) Africa Division 2 Qualifiers is to gain qualification.
The federation’s Spokesman, Musa Ehizoje said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Monday.
According to him, 16 players are already in camp ahead of the Africa Division 2 Qualifiers scheduled to hold in Johannesburg between April 7 and April 17.
Ehizoje said the players were learning to play as a team as well as perfecting the needed skills for the game.
“Following the disbandment of the national team in 2016, new players were selected mainly from the national U-19 team.
“We have very few experienced players from the disbanded team to make up the new team,’’ he said.
Ehizoje said that considering the weather in South Africa, the players could only hope to get qualification.
“We can never be perfect for the game for now, Nigeria is very hot while South Africa is cold, if the players don’t adapt to the weather, it can hinder good performance,’’ he said. (NAN)
