Matriculation

Mubi (Adamawa), Feb. 1, 2018 (NAN) The Federal Polytechnic, Mubi, on Thursday matriculated 5,500 new students for the 2017/2018 academic session.
Dr Sadiq Yahya, the Rector of the institution, made this known at the 34th matriculation ceremony for fresh students into National Diploma and Higher National Diploma programmes.
Yahya recalled that 4,662 students matriculated for 2016/2017 academic session in 38 departments, adding that the institution had expanded to 44 departments.
The rector said that the increase in both enrolment of new students the number of departments showed the growth of the polytechnic.
He attributed the development to efficient planning and execution of the vision of the school authorities.
Yahya urged the new students to be committed to their studies and avoid vices that could truncate their academic career.
He assured the students of a conducive atmosphere as well as a secure environment against invasion of any kind.
Yahya commended Gov. Mohammed Bindow of Adamawa for the road construction project at the polytechnic entrance and the entire Mubi town.
In his remark, Dr Sulaiman Buba, the Registrar of the polytechnic, urged the new students to work hard to achieve excellence.
Buba assured them of the commitment of the institution to help them achieve their goals.
Also, Mr Ahmad Mohammed, the Divisional Police Officer of Mubi North division, advised the students to avoid crime, including indulgence in the consumption of illicit drugs.
Mohammed, a Superintendent of police, advised the new students to pursue good character, adding that they were representatives of their families and communities in the institution.
He said that security agencies would enforce the law against on any student who violated.
