Federal lawmaker constructs constituency projects in Katsina State

Daura (Katsina) March 22, 2018 (NAN) Sen. Mustafah Bukar, (APC-Katsina), on Thursday commenced the distribution and construction of constituency projects to improve the standard of living of people in his constituency.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the projects include distribution and installation of 16 500 kva transformers and drilling of 13 additional boreholes across the Katsina North Senatorial District.

The lawmaker said in Daura at the occasion that he facilitated the projects to provide dividends of democracy to the constituents.

Bukar, who is Chairman, Senate Committee on Capital Market, said the transformers would be installed in 10 local government areas, including Daura, Mani, Mashi, Dutsi and Zango.

Other benefiting areas are Ingawa, Baure, Sandamu, Kankiya and Maiadua.

The senator said he was committed to boosting stable power supply and improve the economy of the people of the areas.

“I facilitated the electricity project, in collaboration with the Niger Delta Power Holding Company,’’ he said.

The lawmaker also said that work had started on drilling of 13 additional boreholes to supply potable water to the people, to prevent water-borne diseases in the district.

Bukar said the project was expected to start simultaneously and to be completed within two weeks.

He promised not to relent in attracting projects that would impact positively in the lives of the people.

The senator, who holds the traditional title of “Madawakin Daura”, called on Nigerians to continue to support the policies and programmes of both the state and the Federal Government for a prosperous nation.

He described as unfortunate, instances of security breaches in some parts of the nation.

The senator said that governments at various levels were doing their best to arrest the situation.

Malam Lawal Nura, who spoke on behalf of the benefiting communities, added that the projects were timely and desirous.

Nura said that water and electricity were vital components of good living and promised that the communities would ensure regular maintenance of the facilities.

He commended the lawmaker for the “people-oriented projects”.

NAN reported that Bukar had facilitated similar power projects in the constituency when he was Deputy Chairman, Senate Committee on Power.  (NAN)
