FCTA pays N3.2bn for 278 education projects – Ag Director

Abuja, June 6, 2017 (NAN) The Federal Capital Territory Authority (FCTA) has so far paid N2.3 billion to contractors for 278 projects, Mrs Justina Maimagani, FCTA Acting Director Administration and Finance disclosed on Tuesday.

Maimagani, who made the disclosure at the 2017 MidTerm news briefing, said contractors are being mobilised to enable them supply and take possession of sites.

She explained that most of the projects are expected to be completed and ready for inauguration within the next few months.

She said the projects include supply of 300 double bunk beds and 600 mattresses to FCT secondary schools in Abaji Area Council.

“Provision of remedial works on existing block of eight classrooms at Government Secondary School, Nyanya, extension of electricity to KOICA site, Airport Road.

“Construction of clinic, provision of external works, access road and borehole, ground and overhead water tanks at Abuja University of Technology, Abaji.

“Provision of additional furniture at the Headquarters of Department of Mass Education, Karu and computer consumables to Education Resource Centre, Zone 7, ’’ she said.

Maimagani also said the there was a provision for ICT equipment, electricity, furnishing and equipping of Science Laboratories at Government Girls Science Secondary School, Kuje and Abaji for computer based Exam (CBE) Centre ITVI, Utako.

Others are supply of hardware for computerization of the Department of Quality Assurance, Jabi and completion of Zonal Education Office, Municipal, Utako.

“Supply of laptop computers for students support programme of the FCT Scholarship Board, Area 11, Garki and renovation of Women Education Centre, Sundaba, Kuje.

“Procurement of one 30kVA generating set and construction of generator house to the Department of Higher Education, Asokoro with completion of wood and metal workshop, old site, VTC, Karshi.

“Construction of classrooms, library and perimeter fence in the FCT secondary schools (SEB), renovation of laboratory complex, administration blocks, kitchen, classrooms in the FCT Secondary Schools (SEB),’’ Maimagani added.

The acting director said that also included were the provision of classrooms furniture to FCT Secondary Schools (SEB), provision of instructional materials to Primary, Junior and Senior Secondary Schools.

According to her, the secretariat maintains a very transparent procurement process in line with all extent rules and regulations also in all contracts awarded.(NAN)
