FCT PHC records increased patronage after revitalisation – Official

Abuja, April 13, 2018 (NAN) Ms Christine Archibong, Medical Officer, Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC), Kuchigoro, FCT, on Friday said the facility has recorded increased patronage after its revitalisation.
Archibong disclosed this while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.
NAN recalls that the centre, which was established in 2007 by Abuja Municipal Area Council, was launched as a pilot of the revitalisation project of 10,000 PHCs across the country by President Muhammadu Buahri on Jan. 3, 2017.
Archibong explained that the attendance in all the services rendered by the centre ranging from Immunisation, Antenatal, Family Planning, HIV Counselling and Testing, as well management of minor ailments was tremendous.
She said that overall attendance of patients which was 6,662 in 2016 had risen to 10,016 after the revitalisation by Buhari.
According to her, antenatal section recorded 4,164 women in 2017 as against 1,120 in 2016, while treatment of common ailments put at 2,089 in 2017 compared to 1,046 in 2016.
The medical officer also disclosed that people that came for HIV counselling and testing were 3,092 as against 1,871 within the period under review.
Similarly, she said that the centre immunised 933 children in 2017 compared to 793 in 2016.
Archibong commended the Federal Government for initiating the revitalisation programme, noting that it has impacted positively on the lives of the Kuchigoro community.
However, she disclosed that the health centre has only one regular medical doctor and one NYSC doctor, nine trained health workers and 17 volunteers. (NAN)
