Abuja Dec. 22, 2016 (NAN) The FCT Fire Service on Thursday in Abuja assured residents in the FCT of safety and prompt response to emergency during the festive season.
Mr Julius Opetunsin, the Acting Controller, FCT Fires Service gave this assurance in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
He said that the service was ready to tackle any fire incidents that might occur during yuletide within five minutes.

“My advice to the FCT residents is for them to be extra careful and watchful, especially while using fire in this season because it can easily spread and get out of hand.
“As civil servants are travelling to their various states and homes, they should not forget to turn off all the appliances in their offices, if possible they should remove them from the sockets.
“This will go a long way to curb electric sparks that could cause infernos that way they will come back to meet their offices intact.
“More so, women should be very careful while frying and cooking in this season no fire should be left unattended to and children should be guided not to use firecrackers .’’
Opetunsin also advised them to desist from mishandling combustibles and avoid indiscriminate disposal of cigarettes.
Mr Tinver Jeremaih, the Public Relations Officer, FCT Fire Service called on FCT residents to contact any of the 13 fire stations closest to them in case of fire emergency.
