Enugu Mar 20, 2018(NAN) Ghana exhibitor at the ongoing Enugu International Trade Fair, Peter Akwese has encouraged Nigerians to patronize African fabrics and accessories to promote the continent’s identity and heritage.

Akwese told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) at the trade fair on Tuesday that Africans should quit depending on foreign made goods and patronize local fabric to promote our African culture and tradition.

“Our fabrics which is popularly known as kente is of a high quality and affordable,” he said.

Akwese said that Kente fabric had been a major traditional marriage attire in Ghana and could be worn in so many ways.

“It is also used to design bags, jewelries, slippers and so forth.

“We came all the way from Ghana to represent our country and also show the good people of Enugu our beautiful local handmade kente fabrics and accessories.

“We want to bring back our identity and the beauty of Africa which is gradually slipping away from our hands,” he said.

The exhibitor expressed dismay at poor turnout and patronage at the fair compared to previous trade fairs.

NAN reports that the trade fair which started on March 16 has entered its fifth day. (NAN)
