Kano, January 23 2018 (NAN) The Fagge Local government council in Kano state has targeted over 61, 000 children below the age of five for polio immunization this month (January).
The Primary Health Care Coordinator of the local government, Malam Muhammad Yahya, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Kano.
He said that the exercise in the past had been successful stressing that resistance from some private schools would be resolved.
He charged the immunization supervisor to ensure proper monitoring of personnel to resolve pending issues for the smooth conduct of the exercise.
He commended the efforts of the traditional rulers in the area who were always available and ready to address slight issues of resistance.
The Manager Immunization of the Council, Malam Ayuba Ahmed, said 95,000 vaccines for the round had been procured.
NAN reports that health officials in the state have projected that over three million children below the ages of five would be immunized in January. (NAN)
