Buni Yadi (Yobe), July 17, 2017 (NAN) The Yobe Fadama three project has provided 640 households affected by insurgency in Gulani and Gujba Local Government Areas of Yobe with irrigation, livestock and poultry support programmes for economic rehabilitation.
Alhaji Musa Garba, State Project Coordinator of the programme said this when he conducted journalists round the programmes on Monday in Buni Yadi.
He said the intervention was being executed under the World Bank programme on North-East security and livelihood project.
Garba also said 48 communities in the two local governments had been earmarked to benefit from the project.
“Each of these communities comprises 40 households and in every household there has about 15 persons.
“The package includes rice, maize, sorghum, millet, vegetable oil, salt and sugar to support the peopl, he said.
The coordinator said package to households include ”livestock of small ruminants of three female goats and a male goat or, four sheep and a ram or, chicken and guinea fowl layers,he said.’’
According to him, the project also has crop components of irrigation package consisting of seeds, water pumps, sprayers, insecticides and fertiliser among others for the beneficiaries.
‘’The project has also established grains processing plant in Buni Gari to process grains for personal and commercial use by the returnee communities.
“The processing plant has saved the people from travelling to other places to process their grains as was done in the past.
“We have four machines processing maize, millet, sorghum and rice.”
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the project has also constructed stalls and toilets in Bumsa, Gujba, Bularafa and Bara markets to promote commerce and economic activities in the areas.
Malam Usman Garba, a trader in Bumsa, commended Fadama III for providing the communities with the facilities.
“The stalls have promoted commercial activities in the benefiting communities as well as protecting our wares from the rains wind and sun,” he said. (NAN)
