Abuja, Jan. 11, 2017 (NAN) Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, the Senator representing Nasarawa-West Senatorial District, on Wednesday described the death of  ex-Gov. Abdulkadir Kure of Niger as a great  loss to Nigeria.

Adamu said in a statement that the deceased was a patriot who contributed to the development of his nation.

The senator also said late Kure was a distinguished team player who’s immense contributions in several capacities engendered national growth and stability.

Adamu said he had an excellent and cordial working relationship with the deceased when they were both  governors of their respective states between 1999 and 2007.

“I benefited a lot from his wealth of intellect, maturity, diligence and honesty during my tenures; first as Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF) and ultimately when I became Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF).”

Adamu, who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development, said “like myself, late Kure was passionate about agriculture and had distinguished himself in poultry farming”.

“Engr. Kure was a man of integrity and very religious person who was never given to primitive acquisition of wealth or influence.

“We will greatly miss him because he (Kure) was the kind of person we need now as we work towards strengthening our democracy in this country.”

Adamu, however, commiserated with the family of the deceased, the  government  and  people of Niger and Nigerians in general over the loss.

The senator prayed to the Almighty Allah to forgive Kure’s sins and reward his good deeds with paradise. (NAN)
