Brussels, March 6, 2017 (dpa/NAN) The European Union will host a conference on Syria and the region on April 5, EU Foreign Policy Chief, Federica Mogherini, said on Monday.
The conference will assess the current state of UN-led peace talks and define terms of support for Syria and the region once a political solution is reached.
It will also take stock of the results of a conference held in London in 2016.
“We hope that the Brussels conference on April 5 can support strongly the UN work on the political track.
“However, we also try to establish regional and international framework for how we can together support the future of Syria and the region,” Mogherini said.
The conference will be co-chaired by the UN and the governments of Germany, Kuwait, Norway, Qatar and Britain. (dpa/NAN)
