Warri (Delta), Jan.  18, 2017 (NAN) Mr Sheba Palama, an entrepreneur and construction engineer, has called for active involvement of indigenous investors in the construction industry to boost infrastructural development in Nigeria.

Palama is the Chairman of an indigenous company, Carija Engineering Company (Nigeria).
He made the call on Wednesday at the official opening of the company’s head office in Orhuwhorun, Udu Local Government Area of Delta.
He said that since Nigeria is a developing nation, construction companies currently operating in country would not be able meet the infrastructural needs of its populace.
Palama, who had been in the oil and gas industry in the past 30 years, said he decided to divert into construction because of the dwindling global oil market.
“Carija is a world class company in Spain. I decided to go into partnership with them to add value to the construction industry in Nigeria.
“Nigeria is a developing country; we don’t have enough companies to do the job, Julius Berger is is involved in too many contracts.
“I decided to go into a joint venture with Carija for them to feel our impact.
“We are also going into quarry and farming.
“One of the major problems facing Nigeria security. I told my foreign partners to forget about the problem because I am part of the system.
“The company will develop and the country is going to enjoy it,’’ he said.
Palama said the company currently has four offices in Lagos, Port Harcourt, Abuja and Delta.
Also speaking, Mr Roberto Vazquez, the President, Carija S A Spain Global, thanked the people for their hospitality.
“We are ready to collaborate in developing infrastructure projects in Nigeria and we will hit the ground strongly,’’ he said.
Mr Eta Enahoro, the Chairman of the occasion, urged the youths in area to create the enabling business climate for the company to thrive.
“The only thing is to appeal to our youths to embrace peace in order to attract investors to develop their areas.
“They should stop harassing companies in the name of development fee,’’ he said. (NAN)
