Lafia, Feb. 8, 2017 (NAN) The Emir of Lafia, Alhaji Isah Mustapha-Agwai, has lauded the steps taken by the Eggon community toward peaceful co-existence among all groups in Nasarawa State.
Mustapha-Agwai, who is also the Chairman, Nasarawa State Traditional Council, gave the commendation in Lafia, on Wednesday, when village and district heads of Eggon community paid him a courtesy visit.
“I am impressed with the steps taken by the Eggon community toward lasting peace and unity.
“I want other groups to emulate such steps and work together so that Nasarawa will be a model for all,” he said.
He described peace and unity as veritable tools for national development, and stressed the need for all hands to be on deck toward attaining the two ideals.
The traditional ruler thanked the village and district heads for their support and understanding over the years, and urged them to maintain that spirit.
Earlier, Mohammed Karma, leader of the delegation, had pledged allegiance to the Emir and the emirate, saying that the visit was to convey the resolve to work with him to promote peace, unity and steady growth.
“We have resolved that anyone caught breaching peace in our respective localities will be apprehended and be made to face the full wrath of the law,” he said
He advised Eggon youths to shun social vices and strive to be assets to the society. (NAN)
