Trafficking

Abuja, Nov. 10, 2017 (NAN) Mr Lawrence Socha, the Director, Public Affairs, U.S. Embassy in
Nigeria, has stressed the need for partnership by countries to tackle the menace of human trafficking across the globe.
The director said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Abuja.
He said “there must be partnership among countries of the world to boost safety and national security to help fight human trafficking.”
Socha, who said there were about 27 million people held into slavery globally, noted that human trafficking had been a modern day slavery that needed holistic approach to tackle.
He said that the menace was affecting almost every country of the world, adding that many lives were wasted due to injustice meted on victims of trafficking and stressed the need for increased awareness on the issue.
He, therefore, urged youths, stakeholders, as well as Ministries, Departments and Agencies to join hands in the fight against the menace.
“We must work together to figure out what to do to stop injustices done to people and prosecute the culprits,” he added. (NAN)
