Ado-Ekiti, Jan.27,2017, (NAN) Capt. Sunday Adebomi, A member of APC from Ise-Ekiti, Ekiti State, on Friday advised the Federal Government to create jobs for youths to reduce crime rate in the country.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Adebomi, based in the U.S. gave the charge while receiving an award of excellence from All-Africa Students Union (AASU) in Ado-Ekiti.
He said that his determination over the years had been to assist the less privileged, especially the youths, to eradicate poverty in the society and make Nigeria a better country.
The APC chieftain said the award given to him by the union was borne out of his good works and achievements in empowering less privileged Nigerians at home and abroad.
” I am delighted with the award of commendation and excellence given to me. It is an indication that my good works to engage the youths and make life better for them are being monitored by this union.
” I believe government at all level should empower and engage youths because once a large number of them are gainfully employed, it will curb terrorism, kidnapping and armed robbery in Nigeria .
“I will appeal to youths in Nigeria not to lose focus in striving and working hard to succeed through good and profitable businesses and jobs because riches derived from fraudulent means will never last,” he said.
Earlier, the leader of AASU), Bishop Tollar, who is also the Director of Information and Communication Technology of the union, commended the efforts of the politician in empowering youths over the years.
He said that the reason the union selected the recipient for the award was never politically motivated nor bought, but because of his dedication to the development of Ekiti State and empowerment of youths in his community.
” We, as members of AASU, wish to state categorically that our choice to confer the honour of excellence on Capt. Adebomi is not just a celebration of an achievement of an outstanding performance.
” It should also be seen as a clarion call on the recipient not to relent by giving more attention to the welfare of his people,” he said. (NAN)
