Eid el-Fitr: Vigilance group deploys 2,000 personnel in Jigawa

Dutse, June 24, 2017 (NAN) The Jigawa State Command of Vigilance Group of Nigeria has deployed 2,000 personnel to ensure hitch-free Eid el-Fitr.
The state Commander of the group, Malam Umar Salihu, made this known to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse on Saturday.
Salihu said the officers were deployed to assist other security agencies in Dutse, the state capital and other major towns across the state.
He explained that the deployment of personnel was to enable the group contribute its quota in providing adequate security during and after Sallah across the state.
The commander added that the men of the group were stationed at strategic locations such as prayer grounds, children parks, emirs’ palaces and durbar routes and other suspected crime spots.
According to him, some of the group members will also be on hand to help in the control of crowd.
Salihu added that the vigilante group had joined other security formations to ensure a peaceful and successful Sallah in the state.
He, therefore, advised people to cooperate with all security personnel for peaceful celebration.
He urged the members of the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious movements to the nearest security formation within their localities.
The commander also wishes the good people of Jigawa a happy and blessed Eid el-Fitr in advance. (NAN)
