Egbowon, Eliya elected into judo federation board

Abuja, May 25, 2017 (NAN) Dickson Egbowon and Amos Eliya have been elected as representatives of technical bodies and athletes respectively on the board of the Nigeria Judo Federation (NJF).

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the elections, which were held at the Abuja National Stadium on Thursday, involved six contestants.

Egbowon was elected with 34 votes as against 18 and seven votes for his opponents Bassey Bashir and Umar Musa.

On his part, Eliya got 24 votes to defeat two opponents in the election for the athletes’ representative.

Egbowon, while speaking with NAN after his victory said he would do his best to ensure standards in the technical aspects of the sport in the country.

He said the belief of coaches and athletes in his ability was what gave him victory.

Egbowon added that he would ensure that the new board hold regular refreshers course for coaches so as to reposition the sport.(NAN)
