Bida (Niger State), Feb. 22, 2017( NAN) Dr Abubakar Dzukogi, Rector Federal Polytechnic Bida on Wednesday called for revamping of the nation’s power sector toward the improvement of research for national development.
Dzukogi told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Bida, Niger State that effective power supply would guarantee technology development in the country.
He said that research could be developed with the present state of power in the country.
He called for urgent measures by the Federal Government to introduce strong policy that would make companies handling power supply to be more effective and efficient.
He observed that the place of sustainable environment in building a resilient economy in the country “cannot be overemphasised’’, adding that this would determine the development of a resilient economy,
He said that though the Federal Government was working hard to develop a vibrant economy through policies diversifications.
Dzukogi, however, noted that strong political will was needed for the total implementation of the policies.
He also called on governments at all levels to make it mandatory for industries to lead research activities in tertiary institutions to solve research problems. (NAN)
