Benin, May 8, 2018 (NAN) The Edo Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, has commended Bendel Insurance Football Club players for the high level of discipline they have displayed so far in the 2017/2018 Nigeria National League (NNL).
Shaibu gave the commendation on Tuesday in Benin while addressing officials and players of Bendel Insurance FC and Edo Queens Women Football Club during a one-day retreat for both clubs.
He congratulated the Bendel insurance FC players for their success in gaining an early lead in the NNL.
“Keep the fire burning as Gov. Godwin Obaseki is keen to see you play in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) next season.
“Players of the re-branded Bendel Insurance FC should see themselves as ambassadors of the state, as this will attract more investors to put their money on them,’’ the deputy governor said.
He, however, assured of the state government’s plan to re-brand Edo Queens FC ahead of next season.
Shaibu said the rebranding of Bendel Insurance FC tells the story of what the present Edo State Government would do to other sports in the state.
The guest speaker at the one-day workshop, Emmanuel Usoh, urged Bendel Insurance FC players and officials to emulate the spirit and commitment shown at all times by clubs abroad.
“Imbibe the spirit of winning trophies. Winning trophies will encourage your fans and investors to remain and stand strong with you,’’ he said.(NAN)
