The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that UEMOA is an organisation of eight, mainly francophone countries within the ECOWAS comprising Benin, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Niger, Senegal and Togo.

It was established to promote economic integration among countries that share the CFA franc as a common currency. UEMOA was created by a Treaty signed at Dakar, Senegal, on 1 Jan. 10, 1994

The UEMOA Court of Justice delegation was led by its president, Justice Josephine Ebah-Toure.

ECOWAS Court President  said the two courts had pledged their commitment to collaborate in enriching their decisions.

Traore said that the partnership was to enhance regional integration and work towards development, unity, interest and welfare of the people.

The president said that UEMOA’s visit was a working session of the ECOWAS court of justice aimed at having a framework of what is called `a dialogue of judges`.

He said that the visit was to give opportunity to the two courts to see their differences and work on their common area.

He said that the two courts would cooperate to advance the cause of the region

“The cooperation is necessary because both Courts are working toward achieving regional integration.

“Our common ground is to have coherent messages not contradictory, thus work to avoid conflict of jurisdiction and synergy of work”, he said.

President of UEMOA Court of Justice, Justice Josephine Ebah-Toure said UEMOA and ECOWAS were sister institutions in the region that have a common goal

“Today’s visit is to see where the two courts can partner and exchange relationship between the ECOWAS court of justice and EUOMA court of justice

“The two courts are sister  institutions and the working visit is to see the area of our cooperation and how to work for the integration according to our founding fathers and the heads of state
