Ecological Fund Office set to inaugurate Obinagu/Akpulu/ Enugeze-Umunneobagu erosion project

Abuja, April 12, 2017 (NAN) The Ecological Fund Office says it has concluded plans to inaugurate the Obinagu/Akpulu/Enugeze-Umunneobagu Soil Erosion and Flood Control Project in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State.

 

The Fund said this in a statement issued by its Deputy Director, Press and Public Relations, Mr Lawrence Ojabo in Abuja on Wednesday.

 

He said the project was initiated and completed by the Fund, the Presidency and Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

 

According to Ojabo, the project is in continuation of a programme started in Dec. 2016, by the Federal Government.

 

The deputy director said that the aim was to deepen community participation, ownership, and sustainability in the management of Ecological challenges and problems across the country.

 

He said that the project would be inaugurated and handed over to the community by the Director-General, Voice of Nigeria (VON), Dr Osita Okechukwu on Friday.

 

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the Fund has inaugurated many similar projects across the country.

 

They include Shoreline Protection Project against Flood Waters, Erosion Control Project at Ikot-Ebok/Mobil Pegasus School Eket, and the Daura Township Erosion Control Project, Phase 1, in Katsina State.

 

These projects are to enable people at the community level to pursue their economic activities and livelihoods, as well as the quality of their lives. (NAN)
