Dust haze atmosphere to prevail on Thursday – NiMet

Abuja, Dec. 21, 2016 (NAN) The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted dust haze weather conditions over the central states of the country on Thursday with horizontal visibility of two to five kilometres.

NiMet made the prediction in the Weather Outlook by its Central Forecast Office in Abuja on Wednesday.

It explained that the region would have localised visibility of less than or equal to 1,000 metres with day and night temperature of 28 to 38 degrees Celsius and 12 to 21 degrees Celsius respectively.

The agency predicted that the Southern states would experience dust haze conditions with horizontal visibility of two to five kilometres and localised visibility of less than or equal to 1,000 metres over the inland cities.

It also predicted mist and cloudy conditions over the coastal cities in the morning and cloudy in the afternoon and evening hours with day and night temperatures of 33 to 36 degrees Celsius and 18 to 24 degrees Celsius respectively.

According to NiMet, northern states will experience dust haze conditions with horizontal visibility of two to five kilometres and localised visibility of less than or equal to 1,000 metres.

“The region will have day and night temperatures of 32 to 38 degrees Celsius and 10 to 19 degrees Celsius respectively during the forecast period.

“Dust is expected to remain in suspension from North to the South within the next 24 hours,” NiMet predicted. (NAN)
