Shonibare, who resides in Ikotun, a Lagos suburb, is facing a two-count charge of unlawful possession of dangerous weapons and stealing.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the offence levelled against him.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Peter Nwangwu, told the court that the accused committed the offences with others now at large on Oct. 1 at No. 41, Mosafejo St., Amukoko, Lagos.

He said the accused trailed Amobonose, who had returned from a trip, to his house and robbed him of his cell phone valued at N25, 000.

The prosecutor said that the accused and his accomplices also robbed their victim of Access and Guaranty Trust Bank ATM cards and N36, 000 cash.

“The accused was apprehended by the police, but his accomplices fled in an unmarked car,’’ he said.

According to Nwangwu, police recover knives, cutlasses and other dangerous weapons from the accused.

The offences contravened Sections 297 and 299 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (revised).

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Y.O. Aje-Afunwa, directed that the case file, in respect of the accused be sent to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice.

She ordered that the accused be remanded in prison pending when the court would get feedback from DPP.
