Sealing
By Sunday John
Lafia, Sept. 28, 2017 (NAN) The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) on Thursday sealed a mega filling station in Lafia over alleged operation without a valid licence.
Mr Benjamin Ewuga, the DPR Controller of Operations in-charge of Benue and Nasarawa states, told newsmen that the closure was part of efforts to ensure adherence to guidelines.
Ewuga was represented by DPR’s Head of Operations, Mr Abdulrahman Mohammed.
“The station has no valid petroleum storage and sales licence, and it has been operating for years.
“We have served the management of the filling station with many correspondences to obtain a valid licence but it failed to do that; so, DPR had no option than to seal the station,” he said.
He said that nobody would be above the law.
“The station will remain sealed until the management does the needful.’’
Ewuga assured members of the public that closure of the station would not lead to scarcity of petroleum products in Lafia.
He said that other filling stations in Lafia had enough fuel.
When contacted, the management of the station declined comment. (NAN)
