Abuja, July 29, 2018 (NAN ) A school administrator, Mrs Salamat Sani has warned parents on rushing children through school.

Sani gave this warning in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN ) in Abuja on Sunday.

Sani, a director of  Prime Scholars ‘ Schools Abuja warned that rushing children through school  would make them mature falsely.

According to her, children should grow from one stage to the other, drawing lessons from each stage to prepare them for healthy maturity.

” But what parents do now is to rush their children thereby, making them omit some necessary stages that would bring the best out of them.

” We are so much in a hurry to push the children through school without also giving them necessary home training that will complement their academic training ” she said.

She added that this would lead to bringing up children who would never achieve their own dreams but their parents’ dreams and aspirations.

Sani warned that hurrying children makes them go through adulthood prematurely , unprepared as well as unhappy.

She added that the children have their own dreams which should be allowed to unfold by giving them sound education and guidance.

According to her,  an underage child rushed through primary, secondary education remains an underage even in his or her tertiary levels where the child gets lost in the midst of grown ups.

” This most times leads to children engaging in vices of various kinds as well as crimes.

” They feel unfulfilled, or something is missing because they were hurried through and did not capture enough of what should see them through into adulthood ,” she said.

Sani warned also that rushing children through their education  would lead to bringing up half-baked,  unreliable adults who are  a burden to themselves and a nuisance to the society.

She therefore urged the government and those in charge of the educational sector to look into this and put in place a framework to correct this problem . (NAN )
