Lagos, June 8, 2018 (NAN) The National Institute for Sports (NIS) on Friday admitted 126 students for its various programmes, with a charge that they should justify their admission through dedication and discipline.
The NIS director, Dr Eke Chukwudi, gave the charge at the institute’s matriculation ceremony in Lagos.
Chukwudi said that the matriculating students were carefully selected out of many who applied for the various courses.
“I welcome all the matriculating students, who after scrutiny of their qualifications, as well as fitness tests and skill practices in their respective areas of specialisation, proved worthy to be enrolled as students.
“I wish to congratulate you for being among the few applicants who sailed through the rigorous admission process of the institute,’’ Chukwudi said.
The director advised the students to be of good behaviour.
“It is pertinent to inform you that the institute’s certificates are only meant for dedicated and discipline students found worthy in learning and character.
“Consequently, you are advised to take your studies serious, ensure that you meet 75 per cent class attendance as a pre-requisite for sitting for examinations,” he said.
The director also charged the students to eschew vices.
He said that the NIS management would continue to do its possible best to create a conducive learning environment.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the 126 students include 83 for a certificate course in advanced coaching, 21 for a diploma programme in coaching, 10 for a higher diploma course in coaching and nine for a higher diploma course in sports management. (NAN)
