Abuja, May 28, 2018 (NAN) The National Orientation Agency (NOA), has called on Nigerians to positively contribute to peace building and good governance for the sustainable development of the country.
The Director-General of NOA, Dr Garba Abari in a statement, on Monday in Abuja, said recent happenings in the country demanded sober reflection to re-awaken the conscience of citizens to their collective responsibility.
He said that the 2018 Democracy Day with the theme: “Peace Building and Good Governance for Sustainable Development” could not have come at a better time.
“I urge Nigerians to renew their commitment to strengthening democratic institutions and imbibing values that promote democracy such as patriotism, discipline, tolerance and social justice.
“Public servants, who are the engine room of government and the oil of good governance should contribute their quota toward quality service delivery as a hallmark of democracy.
“No government policy, however laudable, can succeed without the contribution of the public service; public officers should see their daily service as inputs for the good governance of our country,” Abari said.
The NOA chief executive also implored all citizens, both public and private, to lead the quest for sustainable development in their various fields of operations.
He noted that the economies of nations were built by their citizens under the leadership of their governments.
Abari added that the current administration’s Economic Recovery and Growth Plan was a formidable guide, which citizens should key into in order to move Nigeria’s post-recession economy forward. (NAN)
