Issele-Uku(Delta), March 30, 2017(NAN)The Delta government has lauded the chairman of Aniocha North local government area, Mr  Chuks Oseme,  for his initiative in providing a staff clinic in the area.

The  Commissioner for Health, Dr. Nicolas Azinge, who gave the commendation Thursday in Issele-Uku, at the inauguration of the  clinic, said the initiative of the council boss was worthy of emulation.

“Today we are here to witness the commissioning of a staff clinic built by the Aniocha North local government council. This is a noble project that is worthy of emulation.

“I feel this initiative should be appreciated because not all local government areas can create or put up this type of project, especially at this period of economic recession,” Azinge said.

He said that the project was an investment in the state healthcare sector and a one of the cardinal points of Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa’s developmental agenda for the people of the state.

Azinge enjoined the staff of the local government to make good use of the clinic, saying that it was equipped with the necessary medical facilities to meet the health needs of the staff.

“The clinic is well equipped, it has a mini- laboratory, a pharmacy unit with drugs and a well-furnished consulting room.

“There is also a waiting room with bed in case of serious case before transferring patient a big health facility. The clinic also has equipment for testing blood pressure, so it is a very good project.

“So, I will like to advice all the staff of the local government to use the opportunity for their routine check up even though they are not sick, especially those that are above forty years old,” he said.

The council chairman, Oseme, said that the administration was committed to improving the welfare and health care needs of the workers.

He said that  the clinic would help workers stay healthy by offering on-the-site preventive test and screening to help them develop good health habits.

Oseme disclosed that the clinic was aimed to function as the employee’s primary health care provider, adding that it would  supplement rather than replace the workers’ doctors.

He assured the staff of the council of his commitment to the sustainability of the clinic, adding that he took proactive measure in setting-up an accountability mechanism to ensure that the clinic remained functional.

“We have also taken proactive measures to ensure that this clinic remain functional as the council continues to lead the way by providing basic healthcare service for its workforce” he said.(NAN)
