LG distributes drugs to health centres, warns against diversion

Daura (Katsina State), April 3, 2018 (NAN) Daura Local Government in Katsina State on Tuesday distributed 123 assorted drugs to five health centres in the area.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the drugs were donated to the local government by a UK-based NGO – Maternal and Child Health (MNCH 2).

Alhaji Lawal Kado, the acting Chairman of the local government, who presided over the distribution held in Daura, warned medical officers against selling or diverting the drugs.

Kado, who thanked the NGO for the drugs, advised pregnant women and parents of children under five years to access the drugs for a healthy living.

He said “the drugs are of high quality. I am very optimistic that they will  be very useful to our people.”

Malam Ahmed Murtala, the local government’s Director of Health Services, said the consignment comprised of anti-malarial drugs, analgesics, antibiotics, eye drops, among others.

He listed the benefitting health centres to include Daura Comprehensive Health Centre, Child and Maternal Health Centre, Baraji, Maternal and Child Health Centre, Hindatu, Mazoji Primary Health Centre and Tudun-Wada Comprehensive Health Centre.

Murtala assured the donors that the drugs would be accessible to the patients, saying that the distribution of the drugs would be closely monitored to ensure maximum reach. (NAN)
