Abuja, July 27, 2017 (NAN) The Minister of Youths and Sports, Solomon Dalung, on Thursday inaugurated a 13 member board for the Nigeria Gymnastics Federation (NGF).

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the board of NGF and Nigeria Taekwondo Federation were not inaugurated on July 21 due to violence that scuttled the election.

Inaugurating the board led by Kelvin Ehizogi as President, Dalung advised the members to work in harmony to move the sports forward.

He advised them to focus on the development of the sports at the grassroots, adding that the ministry was interested in developing young athletes to replace the aging ones.

“I want the federations to concentrate on the development of sports at the grassroots.

“We have deflated the profile of our elite athletes; if something is not done, we will be in short supply of athletes in the near future,’’ he said.

Dalung warned that the ministry would not tolerate presidents who would run the federations as sole administrator.

“My charge to you is that nobody should run the federations again like a sole administrator.

“You must consult and hold meetings as provided in the code of governance.

“There must be transparent management of funds whether from the government, government agencies or sponsors,’’ he said, adding that federations must be accounted to monies given to them. (NAN)
