Lagos, Dec. 13, 2017 (NAN) An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday fixed Dec. 18 to sentence a security guard, Ike Ikaramo, 36, who allegedly stole some items from Eko Electricity Company.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs B.O. Osunsanmi, fixed the date after Ikaramo pleaded guilty to the two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
Osunsanmi said the accused should be remanded in Kirikiri Prisons pending the review of the facts of the case.
“The accused should be kept behind bars pending facts and sentence,’’ she said.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp. Simeon Imhonwa, told the court that the accused committed the offence with two other at large on Oct. 28, at Eko Electricity Company at Ijora-Olopa, Lagos.
Imhonwa said the accused stole one conditioner, one Elepac generator and some office equipment, property of Eko Electric Distribution Company (EDC).
“A manager from the company reported the matter to the police and after several questioning the accused could not give any explanation on how the items got missing,” he said.
Imhonwa said the offence contravened Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 287 stipulates three- year jail, while Section 411 prescribes seven-year imprisonment for offenders.
