Court sentences man to 6 months imprisonment for stealing

Ile-Ife (Osun), Dec. 2, 2016 (NAN) An Osun Magistrates’ Court sitting in Modakeke, on Friday, sentenced one Akin Adekola to six months imprisonment for stealing.

The Police prosecutor, Sgt. Ona Glory, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Oct. 17 at Itasin area in Modakeke-Ife.

Glory said that the accused broke into the shop of one Fatima Oyelami and stole cosmetics, six plastic containers of rice, Indomine noodles, spaghetti, and toiletries worth N23,700.

Glory said the offence was contrary to and punishable under sections 390 (9), 413 and 414 of the Criminal Code Cap 34, Vol. 11, Laws of Osun, 2003.

The accused pleaded guilty and the prosecutor presented the fact that the convict was caught during the process of stealing, in which he admitted the fact.

Magistrate Bose Awosan, thereafter, sentenced Adekola to six months imprisonment without option of fine.

Awosan said the sentence would serve as a lesson to other hoodlums who wasted their future by engaging in crimes. (NAN)
