Court sentences 2 men to 15 months imprisonment for stealing goods worth N1.14m

Lagos, March 22, 2017 (NAN) Two men, Nasiru Mustapha, and Jubirila Amadu, were on Wednesday sentenced to 15 months imprisonment by an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court, for stealing goods worth N1.14million.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Oluyemisi Adelaja, convicted them as they were found guilty of a three-count charge of stealing, conspiracy and break-in.
Adelaja sentenced Mustapha, the main culprit, to 12 months imprisonment, while Amadu, an accomplice, is to spend three months in prison.
The convicts on their first arraignment on March 3, had pleaded guilty.
They committed the offences on Feb. 25 at about 10.30 p.m. at Shop 139, Broad St., Lagos.
The prosecutor, Insp. Chinalu Uwadione, said that the duo broken into the shop of the complainant, Kenechi Ekeh, and stole goods valued at N1.14 million.
Uwadione said the stolen goods include pieces of Samsung televisions, Hp laptop, two Sony DVDs, a car stereo, three clippers, two Phillip Binatone irons and bluetooth devices.
He said that the convicts were apprehended by vigilance group that were securing the area and were promptly handed over to the police.
He said that the offences contravened Sections 280, 360 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. (NAN)
