Ile-Ife (Osun), April 4, 2018 (NAN) An Osun Magistrates’ Court in Ile-Ife, on Wednesday ordered the remanded in prison, of two suspected cultists who allegedly breached public peace.

The Presiding Magistrate Ishola Omisade, ordered their remand in Ile-Ife Prison, pending the consideration of their bail application.

Omisade refused the accused persons bail and asked their counsel, Mr Leke Dada, to make a formal application for that and adjourned the case until April 24, for hearing.

Dada pleaded with the court to grant them bail in most liberal term and pledged that they would not jump bail but would produce reliable sureties.

The accused persons had however pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge of conspiracy, breach of peace, public identification and destruction.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Emmanuel Abdullahi, told the court that the accused were members of an unlawful society, known as “Eiye Confraternity”.

Abdullahi said that the suspected cultists armed themselves with knifes, axes, other missiles and engaged each other in a cultic fight which caused great panic to some people.

He said the accused committed the offence on March 30, around 9 a.m. on Orelowo Street by Ifewara Road, Ilode, Ile-Ife.

The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Sections 70, 249 (d) and 516 of the Criminal Code of Osun, 2002. (NAN)
