Abuja, June 6, 2018 (NAN) A Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, on Wednesday, remanded a scavenger, Aciba Musa in Prison for stealing N4,600.

Musa of Dumping Area, Mabushi, Abuja, pleaded guilty to two-count charge of joint act and theft against him.

The presiding officer, Mr Maiwa Inuwa, ordered that Musa be remanded in custody till July 6 for sentence.

The prosecuting counsel, Mrs Ukagha Ijeoma, told the court that the matter was reported by Bala Abdul of Pantaker Area Mabushi, Abuja, on May 27 at Mabushi Police Station, Abuja.

Ijeoma said that the on the same date at about 10 a.m, Abdul went into the bush to cut firewood and Musa and four others now at large jointly attacked him for no cause.

She said that Musa and his accomplices attacked the complainant and made away with his N4,600 and
when Abdul raised an alarm, the defendant was caught and handed over to the police.

The prosecutor said efforts to recover the stolen money proved abortive because Musa could not give satisfactory account of the said money.

Ijeoma said the offence contravened sections 79 and 287 of the Penal Code, which the defendant pleaded not guilty to. (NAN)
