Court remands motorcyclist for allegedly abducting girl

Lagos, Dec. 6, 2016 (NAN) A Tinubu Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday in Lagos remanded a motorcyclist, Lateef Rasheed, for allegedly abducting and raping a 14-year-old school girl.

The accused, whose plea was not taken by the court, is facing a two-count charge of abduction and rape.

The Magistrate, Mrs F.O. Ikobayo, said that the accused should be remanded in Ikoyi Prisons. She adjourned the case till Jan. 12, 2017.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Richard Odigie, had told court that the accused committed the offences on Nov. 23 at about 9.00 p.m. at Freeman Street on Lagos Island.

“Rasheed accosted the victim at night, abducted her to his apartment and raped her all night while her parents were searching for her.

“The victim was brought home by a good Samaritan who saw her crying in the street,” Odigie alleged.

He said that the accused kidnapped the girl and detained her for one day against her will and raped her.

The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 258 and 266 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. (NAN)
