Abuja, Sept. 11, 2017 (NAN) A Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, on Monday ordered the remand of a painter, Otikewebia Fidelis, in prison for allegedly cutting off his neighbour’s finger.

The Judge, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, ordered that Fidelis should remain in custody until Oct. 3 for further hearing.

The Prosecutor, Mrs Florence Auhioboh, told the court that one Bartholomew Cletus of Jiwa village, Abuja, reported the matter at Gwagwa Police Station on Sept. 4

Auhioboh said that Fidelis, 22, of the same address and others now at large, allegedly attacked Cletus beside a church in Jiwa with axe and cutlass.

The prosecutor said in the process, Cletus was seriously injured in the head and lost one of his right fingers.

Auhioboh said Cletus was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, where he initially spent N20, 800.

She told the court that the offence contravened Sections 79 and 247 of the Penal Code.

Fidelis, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges. (NAN)
