Court remands man, 20, for alleged theft of N10,000

Lagos, Feb. 22, 2017 (NAN) An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday remanded a 20-year-old man, Taorid Rilwan, in prison pending sentence for alleged theft of phone and cash of N10,000.

Rilwan, who lives at Ogabi Str., Agege, a Lagos suburb, had admitted before Magistrate G.O. Anifowoshe, that he stole the items from victims of an accident that occured at National Filling Station, Agege, Lagos.

Following his plea, the court remanded him at the Kirikiri Prisons till March 1 for facts and sentence.

Prosecutor Eruada Victor had told the court that the accused committed the offence on Feb. 11.

He said the complainant, Olushola Ogundeji, and people around the scene of the accident caught the accused red-handed and reported the theft at the police station which led to his arrest.

The offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Lawof Lagos State, 2011 which carries a penalty of three years imprisonment. (NAN)
