Ile-Ife (Osun), June 19, 2018 (NAN) An Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court in Osun, on Tuesday, remanded one Seun Odubade, 22, in custody over alleged theft of white material meant for church anniversary.
The Prosecutor, Asp Mathew Numeprei, told the court that the accused committed the offence on June 8, about 5p.m at Sabo Area, Ile-Ife.
Numeprei said that the accused conspired to commit felony to wit; stealing 100 yards of white linen stuff, valued N70, 000, property of Mrs Rebecca Ajetomobi.
According to him, the offence contravened sections 383, 390 (9) and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The Defence Counsel, Mrs Innocental Akhigbe, appealed that bail be granted to the accused in the most liberal term and promised that the accused would not jump bail but would produce substantial sureties.
Magistrate Ishola Omisade refused the bail of the accused, but asked the defence counsel to ask by way of formal application.
Omisade, in the interim, ordered for the remand of the accused in custody pending the consideration of the bail application.
He adjourned the case until July 2, for hearing. (NAN)
