Abuja, Oct. 24, 2017 (NAN) An FCT High Court, Kubwa, on Tuesday ordered the remand of a 53-year-old man, Babangida Mohammed in  Kuje Prison,  after he pleaded not guilty to a charge of alleged culpable homicide.
Justice Bello Kawu, who ordered the remand, adjourned the matter until Nov. 20, for hearing.
The defendant, a resident of Jiwa Road, Gwagwa, an FCT suburb, is facing a two-count charge of criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide, alongside others currently at large.
Earlier, Mr F. C. Ugbobi, prosecuting counsel, said  that on May 24, at about 5 p.m., the suspect allegedly conspired with others at large, to beat one Pius Nnawiwe to death at Dei dei market area, Abuja.
He said that the offences contravened Sections 96 and 221 of the Penal Code.
Ugbobi , however , applied for a short adjournment to enable him  prepare and bring before the court, his witnesses.
Mr Abdulhamid Mohammed, counsel to the defendant, did not oppose the application.
He, however, told the court that he would bring a formal bail application, noting that the defendant has been in the custody of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Abuja, for six months. (NAN)
