Court remands 3 over alleged car robbery

Abuja, Dec.21, 2016(NAN) A Gudu Upper Area Court, Abuja, on Wednesday ordered the remand of three suspects accused of car robbery.
The defendants: Ayuba Zire, Nnonso Samuel and Kinsley Nnaji, were arraigned on a two-count charge bordering on criminal conspiracy and robbery, offences they denied committing.
The judge, Mr Umar Kagarko, however, ordered their remand in prison custody till Feb. 13 for consideration of their bail application.
The prosecutor, Mr Umoh Inah, had urged the court not to grant the accused persons bail.
“Investigation is still ongoing. There are other 13 cars yet to be recovered from them,’’ he said.
Inah told the court that one Elizabeth Umana reported the robbery of her Honda car with Reg. No.LSR 480 DW to the office of the FCT Command on Sept. 19.
He said that during investigation, the three defendants were all arrested in connection with the robbery.
“Investigations also revealed that they also conspired and removed another Toyota Prado Jeep belonging to one Mrs Goldie Osikbona with Reg.No. RSH 418 KM from where it was parked.
The prosecutor said the offence was contrary to Sections 97 and 298 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
