Ilorin, July 5, 2018 (NAN) An Ilorin Chief  Magistrates’ Court on Thursday ordered the remand  in prison  of three men– Kamaldeen Olayinka, 28;  Hammed Folorunsho,  20;  and Gazali Ibrahim,  24; –for conspiracy, shop breaking and theft.

The trio, all residents of  27, Basin road, Ilorin, in  the early hours of June 14  allegedly broke into a shop and stole clothes valued at N300,000

The Prosecutor, Insp  Al-Hassan Jubril,  told the court that  one  Tope Taofeeq of Alagbado Specialist Hospital Area, Ilorin, had on  June 14  reported at the Area Command Office in Ilorin  that her shop was broken into through the back yard.

He said that the complainant’s shop contained  jeans and  baby clothing, shoes as well as  other valuable items.

The prosecutor also told the court that police investigation revealed that  the three accused persons  and others, now at large, criminally conspired and broke into the shop.

Jubril  alleged that the accused persons and others at large were notorious criminals and Indian hemp smokers  who specialised in playing card till late in the night before  committing  criminal acts.

The accused persons, however, pleaded not guilty when their plea was taken.

The defence counsel, Mr Kabir Adebayo,  prayed the court to grant the accused persons bail pending the outcome of police investigation, adding that they would provide reliable sureties.

The prosecutor objected to bail for  the accused  and urged the court to remand them in prison  pending the outcome of the investigation.
