Ile-Ife (Osun), Aug. 2, 2017 (NAN) An Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court in Osun on Wednesday remanded two men at Ile-Ife Prison over alleged armed robbery and attempted murder.

The accused — Sheriff Lawal, 36, and Tunde Mufutau, 25 — are facing a four-count charge bordering on conspiracy, armed robbery and attempted murder.

The Magistrate, Mr Olalekan Ijiyode, who gave the ruling, said the accused should be kept behind bars pending advice from the State  Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

He said that his court lacked the jurisdiction to try the accused.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Christian Olajide told the court that the accused committed the offences on July 4 at 7.30 p.m. in Parakin area Ile-Ife.

Olajide said the accused, who were armed with dangerous weapons, attempted to kill a man, Babalola Lukman, by attacking him with an axe and injuring him on the head.

The offences contravened Sections 1 (1),(2), (a) and (b) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act, Laws of the Federation, 2004.

The case was adjourned until Aug. 31. (NAN)
